A few months ago, JORD watches reached out to me, to see if I’d like to review one of their lovely watches. One of their wood watches. Now, I’m not a big watch wearer, and I’m not a super stylish, accessories laden lady, but I jumped at the chance for one very, very simple reason.
I’d been coveting a wood watch all year long.
I don’t know where I first saw the concept of a wood watch, but every time it came across my radar, I was enamored. And then, when we went to Hawaii, I saw ads for them everywhere, and they were gorgeous. Which did not help my wantwantwantwant. Something about the wood watch looks so simple, yet stylish, yet unique. So when JORD reached out to me, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.
I’m so glad I did.
This is the Ely Black, one of their smallest women’s watches. As you can see, it’s still not a super dainty watch, but I just love the way it looks. It can be dressed down, it can be dressed up (so far I’ve worn it to Legoland, and out on a date, and also just sitting at home working), but either way there’s something a little special, a little unique about it. It’s not flashy, but there’s just this hint of…something that I just love. It feels stylish, without being cookie cutter.
it comes packaged all snazzy too!
Now, I will give you a couple of heads up here. For one, it’s not waterproof, which makes sense when you think about the fact that it’s WOOD. They make sure to tell you that it’s splash proof but not waterproof, so while it can handle day to day splashing (washing your hands, rain, a walk on the beach, etc.), it’s definitely a watch you should take off before you, say, go surfing.
Also, because it’s untreated natural wood, there may be natural grain variations and may be slight “imperfections” in each watch, and over time may develop a patina in part due to oil and dirt (wood is porous yo). Now, I really like the imperfections in mine, but if you’re someone who wants a flawless piece from tip to top, and that will look exactly the same in 5 years as the day you get it, this might not be for you. They do say that you can oil it (like you would with a cutting board) to help maintain the original appearance (and help maintain the wood), but just something to note. I personally love what happens to wood as it gains a patina, so I probably won’t oil mine (or if I do, only occasionally), but ymmv.
But honestly, those are minor things for me. I just love the way it looks, and even though I don’t wear it every day, I love that I can wear it casual or dressed up equally (I mean, maybe not with a cocktail dress, but you know what I mean). It makes me feel stylish, which is not something I usually feel, so I call it a win.
Now the good news for you guys! JORD is letting me give away a $129 gift certificate to one of you! That’s the value of the Ely, or you could put it toward one of the more expensive versions (I personally want the Zebrawood & Turquoise Cora for my next one). The winner will also get free shipping on whichever watch they choose. It’s super easy to enter, just check out the rafflecopter widget below!

*I was sent a JORD watch to review, but all opinions are mine.
Oh I LOVE it! Andrew has a wood-faced watch that I adore. Would be lovely to have one of my own!
Oops! The Cora would be BEAUTIFUL. Gorgeous combination of color/wood!
The Delmar in green caught my eye, though for my actual style, a smaller, round one would probably work better.
I have actually been eyeing these for a while now!
How beautiful is that!? Gorgeous. I do best with smaller, so the one you have would probably be perfect.
The CORA and the ELY are my two favorites. I don’t know how I would choose!
My husband, who is a carpenter and who needs to up his accessories game (okay, he NEEDS an accessories game, period), is the clear market for this. I mean, come on. He’s a traditional kind of guy, so the Sully or Fieldcrest would be the best bets.
What a beautiful idea, I always have a hard time finding a watch that I think is attractive but is also functional.
Wow, those are gorgeous! I’m having trouble choosing, but maybe the Ely in maple!
These are STUNNING. I would love the zebrawood and turquoise (it immediately caught my eye), or the cora in silver and maple. So fun and beautiful.
Beautiful! I love the Sidney in maple and rose gold.
The turquoise Cora is gorgeous!
I kinda of dig the 746 series – I’ve never seen watches like that one!
I don’t wear watches much but I LOVE the idea of a wood watch. Love love love
