Phoning It In

Literally, as I’m writing this on my phone, from the floor of my hotel bathroom while I wait for my kid to fall asleep.

(This is what it looks like waiting for him to go to sleep).

We’re in LA for N.C.’s latest show and we decided this time to stay the night rather than head back at midnight or whatever we normally do. This also lets him stay at the show all night, since I could bring the munchkin back the the hotel when he started losing it. He did really well, lasting longer than I thought he would (1.5 hours, thanks to games on my phone), but still, it’s a lot to ask of a kid, no matter how excited he was about the whole thing.

I know it means a lot to N.C. to have us there, and it means a lot to me to be there for him. Prepping for a show takes a ton of work from him, and a bit of cooperation from us, and it’s nice to be able to see and celebrate the result of months of work. I’m always crazy proud of him and this show is no exception.

Now if this kid would just go to sleep so I can get off the bathroom floor, this day would be aces.

I’m glad you had the forethought to get a drink before getting stuck in the bathroom. That’s better than I would have done.

You’re such a great family. It’s so great to see support on all sides.
