Sunday Sunday

After a couple of days of hot and dry, today was cool and rainy.

Oh, Southern California.

It ended up being a rather blah kind of day–besides the grey outside, Jackson has a bit of a cold and N.C. and I are both…well, we’re both exhausted. So we all just lazed around all day. Some of us didn’t get out of our pajamas until we went to the grocery store at 7pm. I played Lego Harry Potter all day, while N.C. & Jackson napped. It was a day that felt very Sunday like.

Of course, now I’m in the middle of the Sunday blues (“but I don’t WANNA go to work tomorrow!!!”). I’ll likely end up staying up too late to stave off the inevitability of Monday morning, which of course, makes Monday THAT much better. /sarcasm

Sometimes, I feel like I’m being assaulted by noise with how much Jackson talks. It’s CONSTANT. Constant questions. Constant comments. Constant chatter. Talk talk talk talk talk talk talk.

Which means the moments right after he goes down to bed are a blissful break for my ears. And my brain.

Of course, in general, it’s very easy for me to get auditorily overstimulated. One of the biggest problems I have with our house, for example, is that it overlooks a fairly large road, so we have almost constant road noise. There are days when I feel like I’m going to crawl out of my skin because the noise never ends. Even when it’s not loud, constant noise of any kind starts to make me tweak out after a while.

The problem with “May grey, June gloom” is that I have all these really cute summer clothes I bought, and I will be lucky if I get to wear them much between now and July. This may not seem like much, since I live in Southern California and don’t experience a REAL winter (thank goodness), but now I have a closet full of clothes that are taunting me with their unwearability (I don’t do tights folks, so skirts are basically out until I can go bare-legged).

The dog and the cat just had a little fight with my laptop between them. They’re both lucky nothing happened to the computer.

I just realized I default to using grey more than gray. I blame all the English novels I read in my formative years. I was also conditioned to use theatre, colour, and neighbour, among others, but those I can usually tamp down my instinct. Grey however, just comes out more naturally.

I had all sorts of things I planned to do today. Photos to take for a blog post, writing to do for the week, cleaning, organizing. I was going to DO ALL THE THINGS!

Instead I slept late, and sat around for most of the day.

Eh, you win some you lose some.

(I actually kind of think I won this one).

I often want to use grey- but I think that it is because of Grey’s Anatomy!!

I have that same thing about getting overwhelmed by noise. In addition to having a 4 year old, I also married a man who would live 24/7 with all manner of music. Some lovely, some discordant, but constant. He used to sleep with music on. Usually, I tolerate it, but every and then I snap. Can’t you turn off the dang music for like an hour? He’s actually quite respectful of my issues with it, but I’m a loose cannon. Especially once a month.

I have all sorts of thoughts on your white noise post, as a non-blogger, semi faithful reader. But that feels like a big topic and so today I’m going to comment here instead and suggest knee high boots with skirts. Are you opposed to leggings too?

Ps I miss your reads from around the web, fwiw
