Happy Halloween!

in Celebrations, The Kid

This is the first year that we’ve tried to do anything for Halloween with Jackson.

(While he made an adorable skeleton, we really just laid him on the sofa in these skeleton ‘jams).

But this year, we thought he’d be ready for some of the fun. (Plus? We’re always looking for ways to occupy him on the weekends. BONUS!).

Toddler in a wheelbarrow with pumpkins

There was the pumpkin patch. Jackson didn’t really want to have much to do with getting his photo taken, and he had a complete breakdown at one point, but we probably got an hour’s worth of “enjoyment” out of it, and a few cute pictures.

Toddler in Woody costume

We went to a Halloween fair that one of the local elementary schools put on a few weeks ago. We went about 20 minutes before everything ended, but that worked out ok. It was Jackson’s first attempt at wearing his beloved Woody costume (in all its cheap polyester glory), and he had a blast running around the school grounds, even if he didn’t realize he was missing out on candy.

Waiting for Halloween candy

This past weekend, we went to a big street fair that our city puts on. The kids can trick or treat at local stores, there are activities, everyone is in costume, it’s a pretty nice time. We thought it’d be a fun way to spend an hour or so on Saturday, plus we thought it would give Jackson some “practice” with what trick or treating means. He was unsure at the first store, but as soon as he realized that he got CANDY in his pumpkin, he was ALL about it. Of course, he wanted to stop on every street corner to taste the candy…

Then today, his daycare had a Halloween parade, followed by trick or treating. At first, he decided he wanted his sunglasses on, making him Cool Hand Woody. Soon enough those were left behind. At first, he was a little unsure of the proceedings.

But eventually, he was in the swing of things, enjoying his trick or treating, and having a blast.

(blurry, but happy!)

We still have tonight’s trick or treating to do, but so far, I think I’d call Halloween a success. Now, if we can only convince him not to eat all the candy….

Happy Halloween, from our little cowboy to you!

Looking so long and lean in his Woody suit. We have the same suit and my kids have worn the hell out of it…a surprisingly good investment.
Hope Halloween was good for you!

He looks so grown up in that Woody suit. And, my-oh-my – those curls are gonna break girls’ hearts one day. 🙂

Okay, how can you even dare come over to my site and comments on the cheeks on my kids. Look at what you’ve got going on over here! Cheeky cheek cheekertons.

Love it.
