Be prepared

A few weeks ago, I wrote about my little financial conundrum–I had a bunch of money tied up in my FSA account that I had to spend before the end of the year or I’d lose it (who gets it by the way? The government? My insurance? I don’t know). In the process of that post and the comments, I found out that I could buy some things directly from, from their FSA section. Now, slogging through some of that was tough, but N.C. and I sat down one night and made a go of it.

Yesterday, our order came in the mail. All 30.5 pounds of it.

So THAT’S what almost $800 of stuff from a drugstore can get you!

Need a bandaid? I’m your girl–we now have probably over 700.

We’re now prepared for just about any first aid issue–we have a professional first aid kit, a travel first aid kit, and a Red Cross emergency preparedness kit (need a 2400 calorie survival bar? We’ve got those). There’s pain stuff, and sickness stuff, and skin stuff, and eye stuff, and teeth stuff, and kid stuff. Oh my.

Combine this stuff with my contacts, new glasses, and super fancy dancy sunglasses…

…and I still have more to spend. Crap.

But I’m closer, and at least now we’re prepared for the zombie apocalypse (or at least, bad paper cuts and a crazy toddler).

P.S. Eagle eyed folks, you’ll probably see the EPT box in there. NO, I am NOT pregnant–and I’m hoping not to be for a while. But those suckers are expensive (remember, I’ve got a lot of money to spend!), have a 2 year shelf life and aren’t a bad thing to have around.

Amazing! I am truly impressed. When the zombie apocalypse does hit, I will be making my way to your house. Well done.

Thanks for the laugh. You guys are certainly ready for anything. And, yes, my eagle eyes spotted the EPT – but, I buy those things when they are on sale, too! 🙂 Is there a bicycle-pedal-arm-workout thingee, too?

Ginger December 16, 2010 at 4:10 pm

Yup, two of them actually. It’s about all the workout I can manage these days 😉

Gotcha – I am seeing the two now. I though that this was one single contraption. Hey – any exercise is good exercise – right? 🙂

Holy crap–that’s a ton of stuff! Let me know how you like the Nosefrida. We obviously haven’t used ours yet!

I’ll admit I’m a little jealous of the haul you got last year. I’ve always wanted one of those under desk pedaler thingies!
