Wonderful Wednesdays

It’s Wednesday, you know what that means…

but man, have I been struggling with it today. Look, the whole point of Wonderful Wednesdays is to FORCE myself to look for the good stuff at least once a week. But damnit, today has not made it easy, what with early toddler wakeups (5am, you are not my friend), mysterious toddler injuries, catching every single one of the 23 (!!) lights on my way to work, finding my feed broken AGAIN by a damn plugin, and more coding headaches. Plus, last night I got some not so great news about my mom’s health that is on my mind. So I’m finding myself wallowing.

Everything I try to come up with as some kind of WONDERFUL today just feels like a sham. I don’t feel wonderful. I feel crabby. I feel grouchy. I feel sleep deprived and stressed. I know that if EVER there was a time to pull myself into the spirit of Wonderful Wednesdays, it’s today, but literally nothing feels wonderful.

So if I can’t do wonderful, I’m gonna at least do…not bad. Or slightly amusing. Or funny. Or…whatever. They may not be capital W wonderful, but these things at least lifted my funk a little bit today.

  • I saw a guy on a motorcycle today wearing a full motorcycle outfit…and sandals with no socks. This amused me beyond reason.
  • Jackson learned yesterday how to do that thing when you flick your lips and make that funny noise (I swear, there’s no good way to describe this). It cracks me up–even when he’s doing it at 5:18am. I’m also proud to say that I’m the one who taught it to him.
  • The stupid, annoying project I have been working on for over 8 months is actually nearing completion. It’s an iPhone app, and we’re submitting it to Apple today. The work isn’t done–we still have publicity and marketing to do for the damn thing, but the creation of it is finally, FINALLY done.
  • In an effort to cheer myself up, I watched one of my favorite flash mob videos (I’ve seen it about 15 times). In a testament to my mood, it made me cry, but it did make me smile too:

Alright, that’s all I’ve got today kids. Help a girl out and share what’s wonderful in your world, ok?

That is a great video! I would’ve loved to have seen that in person…

All I can think of today is it’s October. The leaves are changing color and we got pumpkins last night. I love the feeling fall gives you. It’s pretty wonderful.

I’m sorry things are less than wonderful right now. Things are pretty blah here, too, though I am proud of myself for keeping up my social media sabbatical (no twitter or facebook). I’m actually thinking of not going back to facebook, but I miss twitter. 🙂

I’m sorry you’re having a bad day. I think we can all relate. There are MANY days I can’t pull myself out of a funk at all, let alone find anything wonderful to talk about.

I know exactly what you mean about the lip thing. Charlotte recently learned that, and after she does it to herself, she wants everyone to present their lips for her to…whatever you call that.

My dream is to see a flash mob in person one day. That would be awesome.

@Perpetua- We miss you on Twitter!

This is an old wonderful, but when we were in college, Eric organized a flash mob pillow fight. It was pretty amazing!

Singing “The will come out tomorrow” to Beckett tonight was wonderful. It was just the song that I needed… Maybe you can sing it, too! 🙂
