Bits and bobbles

Wednesday night, Jackson woke up 5 times. The first time we’re pretty sure was a night terror, at 9:30. The other 4 times? All came between 12-5 am. Each time took at least 20-30 minutes for him to calm down. To say there wasn’t a lot of sleep going on for ANY of us is an understatement. Of course, lately Jackson will only calm down for me at night. Which is sweet and all, but damn if I wish N.C. couldn’t have taken ONE of those shifts of calming the kid down.

I make a really awesome green chile stew. We just finished an enormous pot of it in two days, and I already want more.

I have a billion ideas in my head and only time for one at a time. Or, maybe 4 at a time. I get very frustrated that I don’t have the time to do everything that is in my brain, particularly in regards to this blog. But I’m only one person, right?

Some of my favorite things Jackson’s doing lately: he waves anytime you say bye-bye, when he’s done eating, and when he’s ready to go to sleep; he gives big, sloppy, open mouthed kisses; he shouts “dittdity!” at the top of his lungs whenever he sees the cat; he walks over and pulls on my pants or shirt when he’s ready to go to bed; sitting and “reading” his books when he’s playing by himself.

I saw someone doing a crossword puzzle (on a newspaper with a pen)…while driving down the freeway at 65 miles an hour during my morning commute. Do I really need to explain my thoughts on this?

One of the random things I find so interesting about blogging: the other day I was leaving a comment on someone’s site, and when I was done I saw that someone else was leaving almost the exact same idea at the exact same time. The other commenter was in MA & I’m in CA. I just find it interesting that two people can be looking at the exact same thing and having almost the exact same reaction at the exact same time–across the country from each other, and never having met. I know it’s not that big a deal, it just struck me as interesting.

I need a basically a mouth full of either veneers or crowns or I run the risk of losing my teeth before 40. Fun stuff. So, anyone have any experience with veneers vs. crowns (mainly on the front teeth, those are what I’m worrying about first)?

I have veneers on my front 8 teeth. My teeth were pretty damaged from multiple things like eating toothpaste as a kid and years of braces. I got my first set when I was 15, but my gums receded some and I got them replaced a couple of years ago. I love them and think they’re beautiful, but they were pretty expensive.

If you have any specific questions, let me know and I’ll try to answer them.

My mom tells me I had night terrors as a kid–apparently I would sleepwalk to the kitchen and start screaming for milk? But while completely passed out? Kids are weird, no? I hope his pass soon!

I had a friend who used to read while driving. What?

I have 4 veneers. Got them 7 1/2 year ago and have been very happy with them. The process of actually getting them sort of sucks, but once you are done it’s awesome.
