Hardy har har

So you know what’s really annoying? Going to see a movie, a comedy, that you’ve heard a lot about–and walking out not knowing if you thought it was funny or not because the family behind you laughed at LITERALLY every other line. I’m not exaggerating. And the loudest, most dialogue covering laugh you can imagine.

I get something being funny. And if everyone in the theater had been laughing, it wouldn’t have mattered. But, folks, just cuz it’s a comedy doesn’t mean that every single last line is laugh out loud funny. It can’t be–for a comedy to truly work there have to be moments that build up to the laugh. Moments that give you that development into the funny. Character development, and plot, and heck, even just good old fashioned exposition.

Luckily, the tickets were free, or I’d have been really pissed.

Yo ho yo ho

Yesterday we went and saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3. We got to go for free, thanks to my addiction to diet coke–Albertson’s was having a promotion where if you buy a certain amount of certain products you get two free tickets. Diet coke was one of the products. See, my addiction was good for something!

Anyway, the movie was great, if only because I got three hours of Johnny Depp. Mmmmm….yummy. The plot was a little confusing at the beginning, but it came around. And again, 3 hours of Johnny Depp will alleviate a lot of plot problems in my mind!

Tomorrow is my one year anniversary. We’re a little too poor to do too much (although I keep saying that moving me away from New York will count as the best anniversary gift ever), but I’m thinking a nice dinner somewhere and maybe something to get out of the house for a few hours will make for a nice day. Maybe a trip to a local winery?

Anyway, it’s bizarre that we’ve been married a year already–where did the year go? I guess that’s the true mark of getting older. When you were a kid, the year just seemed to drag on. As an adult, I look back and think, crap, only yesterday I was still in college. Where the hell has time gone?

I must say though, if what “they” say is true about the first year of marriage being the hardest, we’ve been pretty lucky. I’m pretty sure “they” are wrong, but we’ll pretend since it’s my anniversary. My husband’s an amazing guy, one who works hard to make me happy, and who I can’t imagine life without. Happy anniversary honey.
