December To-Do List

Edit 12/17, just to see how much I’ve accomplished:

At least in part…

  • put up the Christmas lights (we put up the rest of the non-light, non-tree decorations today. It’s pretty awesome already.)
  • find our 2015 Christmas ornament
  • buy & decorate the Christmas tree (this one has to wait a little longer so that it’s not a total fire hazard by Christmas Day)
  • wrap & mail Christmas gifts
  • make, wrap, & distribute edible Christmas gifts (I’m still trying to decide what to make–if you’ve got any recipes you love to gift to other folks this time of year, I’d love to hear about them!)
  • read 9 books to actually complete my Goodreads challenge for the year
  • finish watching season 1 of Jane the Virgin
  • watch Jessica Jones
  • apply for 2016 health coverage
  • figure out what to do with my child for the 3.5 weeks he’s on winter break (so that we don’t all kill each other)
  • apply to jobs
  • apply to more jobs
  • find a damn job oh my god
  • get the last of the stocking stuffers (I’d like to have this done by the 2nd week in December, because that’s the last thing I need to do to finish up Christmas)
  • we’re not doing Christmas cards, but I DO want to write some notes to people who especially helped me through this year
  • decide whether I’m going to try a freelance business, and if so, work on getting that off the ground
  • go see the latest Hunger Games with Caitlin
  • color in my coloring book at least 3x a week
  • deal with timeshare stuff for next year
  • clean out the storage unit
  • figure out what to do with all the stuff I’ve decluttered
  • finish organizing photos from 2014 & 2015 (and maybe start on 2013)
  • work on/finish up a consulting job
  • go to a friend/former colleague’s holiday business party
  • blog 3x a week
  • did I mention find a job?

When I was a kid, we got one week at Christmas. One week! I do not understand these multi-week holidays.

I make the fudge recipe off marshmallow fluff jars (Or you can Google the recipe from over 20 years ago, as it has changed a bit). I use the old version, make 2 pots at a time, which makes 2 9×13 pans, or 3 lbs a pan. Last year I made 42 lbs. I ship them (now using USPS flat rate boxes) all over the country to friends and family. Everyone thinks it’s some secret recipe h handed down from someone like my grandma….nope.

I found this recipe and I think I want to try this as an edible gift this year:
