Sunday Snippets

I woke up this morning with a bit of a sore throat, a headache, and a sense of dread. I now feel like I have razor blades in my throat when I swallow, a massive headache, full body aches, and not a small amount of fury because I’m traveling this week, without the kid and with my husband, in New York with food and drinks, and I REFUSE to be sick when I do so. REFUSE.*

*like I have any control over it

We’ve watched The Lego Movie…a lot lately. Luckily, I think it’s fun, but I’ve basically had Everything is Awesome stuck in my head for about 2 weeks now.

It could be worse though, that Too Many Cooks thing is a much more horrible earworm.

Despite the fact that it was 73 today, we’re having roast chicken & Brussel sprouts and pretending like it’s fall. It smells amazing in my house, but it definitely feels more like we should be grilling than heating our house up roasting a bunch of stuff.

I’m totally going to fail on more than half of my yearly to-do list. And you know what? I’m ok with that. Mostly. This year has been weird, and while I didn’t do a lot on my list, I did do a lot of other things.

I’m trying to decide whether to do another to-do list next year. I have another couple of ideas I’m toying with, but we’ll see where I end up.

The other day, N.C. & I were spelling something we didn’t want Jackson to know about–I don’t remember what it was, but it was something we didn’t want him getting his hopes up about if we couldn’t make it happen–when he pipes up, “Mommy, what does that spell? What word is that?”

You should have seen the look of panic on our faces, a visual equivalent of: Oh shit, the gig is up.

He didn’t figure it out in that instance, but he’s getting close. We’re really almost at the end of the “can spell things we don’t want him to know about” phase, and I shall miss it when it’s gone.
