An August Challenge

I miss writing here, or more specifically, making myself take the time to write here. I miss a lot of things about “old”  blogging, but that’s the big one.

So, I’m giving myself a challenge this month. I’m challenging myself to write here 5 times a week. And not just a one line post with a picture, an actual post. Words and words and more words. Let’s see if I’ve got them anymore, or if I need to rethink this whole blog thing. This month marks the birthday of both this blog and its writer, and this is my birthday present to both of us.

I’m also going to give myself a secondary challenge–a commenting challenge. I’ve gotten really bad about commenting on blogs. It’s kind of ridiculous actually, because I read, but I don’t respond much anymore, even when I feel like I have something to add. So I’m going to challenge myself to comment on at least 5 posts a day, whether I comment on the blog or on Twitter or on Facebook.

If anyone wants to join me in either of my challenges (or your variation on my challenges), I’d love to have some company. But if not, just look for me here 5 times a week. Let’s see if I can do this.

After getting a random, but very nice, comment on my badly neglected blog, I was just thinking this morning that I really need to get back to blogging…not to promote myself, not to sell anything, just to think my weird thoughts and amuse myself. I accept this challenge, well, kinda…I will commit to posting 5 times this month. Thanks for the encouragement, Ginger!

Sometimes I start typing out a comment and then I realize that my comment could easily be a post of my own. If that helps.

I’m not sure I’m up for the challenge but I did want to let you know I’m glad you’ll be back to posting, I miss reading your words and words and more words. 🙂

I think I need to do something like this, although I’m not sure I can do five times a week. I think it’s really helpful to process my thoughts by writing them out, when I can get over my anxiety of offending random someones who MIGHT or MIGHT NOT happen to be reading….

Also, I hear you on comments. I also read a fair number of blogs, but don’t comment. I would never want anyone to feel like they MUST comment – at the same time, it’s comforting to know that there’s somebody out there (occasionally).

I’ve definitely fallen into the “who might I bother” trap–it’s a really big part of why I don’t blog as much honestly. But I miss it. Like you, I find it helpful to process my thoughts by writing, and sharing. I’d like to get back to that place. Even if I don’t end up doing 5 days a week long term, I just want to get back into the swing of it, you know?

I really need to get in on this. I don’t think I can do five days a week but I can aim for three but let’s be honest, one day a week is better than what I’ve been doing. I would also love it if you would do Bring Back the Words again.

Ooh, I’ve been thinking about bringing back BBTW, I just wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested anymore. Hmmm, I’m going to ponder that…

Good for you! I’ve been terrible at commenting as well. But it’s one of the best things about blogging — it makes the big internet world feel smaller and friendlier.
