Get Ready With Me? Sure, Why Not

So, for reasons that are still somewhat beyond my comprehension, I’ve been compelled to do a getting ready with me video. I’ve had the idea for a while, actually, but am basically a chicken about video and have put it off and put it off. Finally, I decided to just go ahead and go for it.

Here’s the thing–I don’t have any illusions that I 1) know what I’m doing with makeup 2) can teach anyone anything 3) am someone to aspire to look like or 4) am interesting to watch. And yet, something about doing this video has stuck with me, for about 3 months now. And two things I’m trying to get better about are 1) listening to that inner voice in my head that tells me to do something and 2) doing things that scare me or make me nervous.

So, here’s my attempt at a getting ready video, where you can see my choppy makeup technique, lovely pre-makeup skin & rambling ways. It’s a long video (around 18 minutes), because that’s about how long it takes me to get ready in the morning (and I don’t have any video editing skills. You’re lucky I was able to get the video up) most mornings. But whether you watch it or not, I did the hard parts already: filming it & posting it.

I fully support you filming more of these. This was fun! I need to get my paws on that Bare Minerals shadow.

You *definitely* need the Bare Minerals shadow. It is seriously one of my new favorite things EVER.

Hmmm, I already typed my comment, but maybe I posted it directly to Facebook? OK, I’ll start again. That was so much fun! You are so brave. I know I would have a hard time doing so. I don’t wear much make-up, but after watching you I am seriously jealous of all your cool brushes and products. I guess it’s time for me to purchase some grown-up make-up, lol. That way, I won’t look like a 40-something trying to look like a teenager! Thanks for sharing!

ordinary people can relate to you because you are refreshingly REAL,
