Date Night

Tonight is a date night, and wheeeeee, am I excited! Four whole hours to talk with my husband without a little person interrupting, or climbing on me, or trying to distract us! Four hours dressed up in a dress, heels, some nice makeup & some shiny lip gloss, where I can be a grown up married to another grown up and have grown up conversations. Oh, and the food and drinks at a NON kid friendly place are always a nice bonus.

It can be hard to be a couple when you’re actively being a parent, and so I firmly believe in date nights–I am MORE than happy to leave my kiddo with other people, so that I can spend time with my husband. And yes, you can do date nights in after the kid goes to bed (and trust me, we do), but it can be hard to REALLY step into date night mode when you’re still surrounded by all the THINGS–things you need to do, things you need to clean, things you need to take care of. So it’s nice to leave the house, and leave the responsibility, and just go be together.

Plus, it’s fun to get dressed up and remember that, hey, we look pretty snazzy together.

Today’s giveaway will be 2 LORAC Sweet Temptations lip glosses, for those date nights or girls nights out, or heck, just because lip gloss is fun.

LORAC giveaway

They’re shiny, but not TOO sticky, and they smell amazingly like candy. The one on the left is somewhere between bright pink and a berry color, and the one on the right is a nice, basic light pink with a little shimmer.

To enter, leave me a comment telling me your favorite kind of date night, or night out with friends, or heck, night to yourself, by 9am PST Sunday, August 25. Have a great Saturday kids!

H and I have had a lot of great date nights getting Thai food for dinner and then going to tapings of a radio show called Wits. So nice to have time together!

Hmm, we don’t have many date nights but we’ll often, after putting the kids to bed, light a fire and Netflix a movie or a show we’re watching together and snuggle on the couch. It’s simple and normal but I love those times together.

My favorite date night is delivery Chinese and a good spy movie on Netfflix. Husband’s presence is a bonus, but not required!! 😉

I love anything where he and I are outside. For some reason, that always makes me feel like we’re 24 and dating again.

I think my favorite date night is going to eat Hibachi. I have a couple of glasses of plum wine and truly relax, and get to just laugh with my husband. My second favorite is going to the movie grill, even though that means less conversation. We get a kick out of going to the movies together.

Date nights are few and far between for us. So when we do getting them, we try to do something we can’t do with the kids around. Usually it’s a nice dinner. Occasionally a movie or a show. We were supposed to have a date night tonight with Jackson but I wasn’t feeling up to it. So it is take out at home and a Disney movie!

We magically get a date tomorrow for brunch since we’re dropping off our daughter at a birthday party. I think we prefer daytime dates, since we don’t worry about staying up late and getting up with an energetic kid the next morning. I love brunch in all forms!

My favorite kind of date is during the day when my husband and I take the whole day off so we can go to a movie and get a nice, kid-free lunch, preferably with cocktails for me.
