A Weekend Off

in Day in the Life

I took a much, much, MUCH needed work/internet/news/current events break this weekend. I didn’t really even plan for it to happen, but I’m so glad it did. The news from last week, coupled with work stress, coupled with anxiety…well, it wasn’t pretty.

Instead, I had meals with my family. We went to the beach. I read a book (it was terrible, but that’s not the point). I played video games and watched my husband play other video games. I played with some of my new makeup. I watched Game of Thrones (OMG it’s getting so gooooooood! I am having the hardest time not spoiling N.C. on what may or may not be coming soon when the story ramps up like this week). I ate burgers and ice cream sandwiches and had beers and bloody marys (not all together).  And I barely picked up my phone, didn’t open my laptop, and (mostly) stayed away from Twitter and Facebook and the news.

I don’t get overwhelmed with social media most of the time, or feel the need for online detoxes or anything like that. But this weekend I needed to hibernate from the rest of the world, from the bad news and bad people and just…escape. It was nice.

It was really nice.

Sometimes, the biggest thing I can do for myself is to…not do anything. (Maybe if I write it enough, it’ll sink in?)

Oh man, the end of GOT this week? Was AMAZING. My husband has also read the books and says that he thinks that he knows how they are going to end the season- and it’s going to be fantastic. I can’t wait!

It should be FANTASTIC if they end the season where I think they will. SO hard to keep my mouth shut about it!
