A Not So Theoretical Question

How do you tell the difference between food poisoning and “the stomach flu”? I’m, uh, asking for a friend.

“Stomach flu” is going around–everywhere, as far as I can tell–so that would be my first guess. And I’m not sure it matters much which it is, because it just has to run its course either way. (Unless you get too dehydrated and have to see a doctor, but that, too, is true either way.)

Sorry. I hope you feel better.

Unless there is potential for consuming potentially contaminated food does it really matter?

If the puking continues until tomorrow than flu. Congratulations, have a Gatorade.

It is rampant around here, too. Wash your hands often, our Dr said that anti-bac gel won’t kill it. Stay hydrated, stick to the BRAT diet. I am so sorry!!

You can usually *tell* the difference. Food poisoning is like nothing you have ever felt before. It’s from both ends, endlessly, cramping, awfulness, and you literally feel like you could die any minute. Either way, Gatorade is a good idea.

I’m sending you good wishes for a speedy FLU recovery. I’m hoping it that’s for you, at least… if it has to be one of those evils.
