Random Snippets, Just Because

This weekend, I got to have a real date night with my husband, spend an entire day with a good friend who lives across the country, and go out to a brunch with my boys where everyone behaved. It was glorious.

I have to do my staff performance reviews and I’m so nervous. No one said being the boss was easy, but it astounds me that *I* still get nervous at *their* performance reviews. I just need more practice, I guess, before it feels less awkward?

For the first time in forever, I’m not totally into TV now that the fall season has started back up. I blame a combo of life, lack of time, and interest in doing other things, for once. But I will admit that it feels weird to not have any idea of the new shows starting up (besides Revolution, which I watched the pilot of, and WOW did I think it was terrible. I may try one more episode just to make sure it’s not just typical “the pilot of most shows is awful” syndrome, but if not? UGH). And even shows I watched before, I’m not really caring that they’re back or coming back: Glee, Grey’s Anatomy, Project Runway (I know, that’s been on for a while), Big Bang Theory…meh. But I AM excited that Revenge is coming back, so you know, it’s not like I’m TOTALLY a grown up.

That being said, we’re catching up on Sons of Anarchy (THANKS A LOT JENNIE), and I’m totally obsessed. We’re on Season 4 (so no one tell me what’s going on in this season yet!!), but I am astounded at how much I am wrapped up in these criminals. Because nothing says suburban mom like a grisly gun running motorcycle club.

We’ve been playing Portal 2 recently, and WOW if that game doesn’t make it feel like my brain is leaking out of my ears. I like to think I’m fairly intelligent, but my brain just does NOT think like that game requires you to think. If you’ve never played Portal, it’s probably one of the least “video-gamey” games I’ve ever seen–it’s practically more an exercise in physics or an IQ test puzzle. That makes my brain hurt.

I think I’m too nice for the internet sometimes. I really don’t want to get into about 95% of the controversies that crop up, I don’t write about anything that I think would upset my family and friends, and I genuinely am happy when awesome people online have good things happen for them.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t have my internal moments of snark, so you know, I’m not a saint.

I gave up on both Glee and Project Runway last year. :/

I am so happy to television enable. (Do you watch The Good Wife? That’s another that I love/became obsessed with when I first started watching.)
