Reads From Around the Web

This week has been both awesome & horrible, so I’m glad to be leaving it behind to move forward. Add in a neighbor who’s watching the kid for a couple of hours tonight so that N.C. and I can have a little date, and I’m thinking this next week is already destined to be better than last. So let’s get some good reads in too, eh?

Over at DadWagon, Matt talks about what Marriage is Really Like. I think it’s interesting to think of the minutia of marriage the way he does–I totally related to what he was saying, though I don’t necessarily find it a negative. But I definitely think you have to balance the minutia with the big moments.

Over at Crazybananas, A tiny little rant about working mom guilt. I’ve said something similar before, and I know a lot of other people who have to, but I think it’s something that all working moms should hear more

Over at Wandering Scientist: Lego Friends Feminist Friend or Foe? Finally, someone actually writes about what’s actually in the new Lego Friends sets. If you’ve wondered about them, or gotten curious about the controversy surrounding them, it’s definitely worth a read.

Over at Minky {moo}: I am a mom blogger. I go back and forth on my thoughts on being a “mom blogger,” but I love the confidence and strength with which this is stated.

Over at Mom, Interuppted at The Stir, I Love My Boys–But Sometimes Dream of a Daughter. Yeah. This one.

And this week, a bonus post. As you may or may not know, Google has announced that they’re shuttering support for Google Friend Connect for non-Blogger blogs in March. That means that if you’ve got a community built up in Google Friend Connect, it’s going the way of the dodo. So, this one’s for you:

Over at Momcomm: How to Move Your Readers Away from Google Friend Connect. (P.S. If you follow me through Google Friend Connect, might I suggest either my RSS feed or subscribing by email, which will put Ramble Ramble right in your inbox every day?)

And finally, this week at Noodle Knobs: I talked about the Boy With the Pink Balloon, N.C. shared his…uh…fashion sense for the kid, and we both got a little schmoopy about the awesomeness of the kiddo.

Whew, that’s a lot! Hope you guys enjoy…and as always, let me know if you’ve found anything awesome in your trips around the web!

Thanks for the link love! It seems like I’ve been writing about those damn LEGOs for months… but I had to do a follow up now that we actually own a Friends set.

And thanks for all the other good things to read, too!

Holy moly, the Lego review was AMAZING. As it happens, there’s a lot of myopic writing about that topic, and the post you linked to did a great job of clearing up some misconceptions.

Thanks for the nice comments! I’m so over the whole guilt thing, it’s nice to hear others feel the same way 🙂
