10 Reasons Meeting Up With Bloggers In Person Is Awesome

  1. No one minds if you pull out your phone to take a picture of your drinks.
  2. In fact, they’re probably doing the same thing.
  3. You can often skip a lot of the small talk, and jump right into actual conversation since you “talk” online all the time.
  4. Because you read each other’s blogs and other online ramblings, conversation rarely lulls for long. “So, how’s that thing you were talking about the other day going?” can always be pulled out and genuinely further the conversation.
  5. There’s no need for the “explanations” you give non-bloggers about where you know someone or read something. (You know the one, that moment when you’re telling a non-blogger about something someone you know online wrote and you have to decide whether to do the whole “my friend said,” “this person I know online wrote,” “this blogger I read was talking about,” or something similar to explain the connection).
  6. It’s nice to be able to discuss the finer points of blogging with someone who is as interested in it as you are.
  7. It’s also nice to be able to discuss the more ridiculous points of blogging with someone who is as interested in it as you are.
  8. It’s doubtful you’ll get yelled at for tweeting about your meetup.
  9. Once you meet a blogger in person, it makes their blog THAT much more relatable. You’ll now have an *actual* voice to go with the writing.
  10. But the best reason? Because if you consider them a friend online, chances are you’ll consider them a friend in person. And meetings with friends is ALWAYS a good time.

Speaking of meeting bloggers in person…if you’re going to be at BlogHer this year, make sure to let me know, since my BIGGEST goal at BlogHer is to meet as many of my readers and as many of the bloggers I read as possible!

As always, you can find more lists every Monday over at ABDPBT!

Agree, also love the fact that I feel like a slightly less socially awkward person when I’m around other bloggers — they tend to understand that stuff better than the average person.
