Random Thoughts Are All I Can Muster

Today is one of those days, one of those scheduling NIGHTMARE days, where the anxiety over when to be where and how to get everyone there has my shoulders up around my ears and my head spinning. Kid in daycare, dog at doggy day care, visiting family at tourist attraction, me at work, husband at Comic Con…all with one car. I feel like I’m spinning in a circle, trying to grab something, anything, to slow down. Tomorrow, tomorrow it all chills out again (some), but until then, bullets it is!

    • I finally made it through all 7 Harry Potter books. I re-read the series before I see the movies, and I was a little concerned I wouldn’t have time to do that (what with the kid and all). But I somehow made it, and spent the wee smalls last night bawling my eyes out–AGAIN–as Harry and Voldermort faced off. I can’t wait to see the movie, I can’t lie, but in all honesty they never live up to the magic of the books for me. I know a lot of people don’t get the appeal of the books, but they really are something wonderful to me and many others, and I’m sad all over again that they’re over. Erin wrote a post that touches on a lot of my feelings about HP much better than this bullet can, but suffice it to say, I can’t wait to share Harry with Jackson.
    • My newest post about my wardrobe rehab is up over at SDMomfia. This one’s about the Closet Makeover…which was definitely eye-opening! Go check it out!
    • I was given a Klout perk for Spotify last week. If you don’t know what Klout is, it’s a service that claims to measure your online influence, mostly using your Twitter and Facebook interactions. I’m not entirely convinced on the actual Klout scoring system (either as a blogger or as a marketer), but it’s interesting. One of the things Klout does is offer perks depending on your score. Which is how I ended up with Spotify. Spotify is a music service that’s been huge in Europe and has finally come to America. It’s kind of like if itunes and Pandora had a love child and then made it social–you can make playlists, pick what artists/songs you want to listen to, but for free, and you can listen to your friend’s music too…for free. I dunno, I haven’t had a chance to really play with it too much, but I’ve spent the last 4 days just listening to full albums at work (Adele, Ben Folds, Them Crooked Vultures, Foster the People, and Raconteurs, to name a few). Anyway, I’ve got a few invites to Spotify left to give to others, so if you’re signed up with Klout (or willing to sign up), and want one, let me know. First come first served.
    • I am so, so, so, so excited about this weekend, because I’m meeting THREE of my favorite bloggers! THREE. I hope they don’t mind my geeky excitement too much 🙂
    • I’m really really frustrated about something at work that has to do with blogging, but I can’t write about it because it’s about work and it’s driving me CRAZY. But let’s just say that some of the bloggers yelling the loudest about how companies don’t treat them like professionals have ZERO clue what it’s like to act like a professional. Be ye warned bloggers: If you work with companies, be prepared to work. With companies. Like grownups. ARGH.
    • Final thought for today? I miss all of you guys. I feel like I’ve been so busy that I’m totally disconnected from this little online space, and it’s amazing to me how much I’ve come to rely on your companionship–even if it’s just through the glowy box–and I can’t wait until things calm down a little and I can get back more.

So what’s going on with you guys?

I feel very disconnected, too. I have such a hard time keeping up with the blogs I want to read and Twitter. Then I feel all left out when I catch up at the end of the day and see everything I missed.

Can’t wait for Sunday!

Im getting an error message when I try to read your wardrobe post! Fix that! I want to read it!

Also, the Harry Potter books are ALWAYS better than the movies, but that doesnt lessen the excitement of the movies for me somehow!

Looks like we’ve fixed the error, if you want to try again!

I love Harry Potter and am really going to try and see this one in the theater, if we can get a babysitter. I also can’t wait to share the books with my daughter, and just hope that it’s not one of those things that you REALLY want your kid to love and they end up being “meh” about.

Belated congratulations on the promotion, too!

Enjoy hanging out with other bloggers. I have loved the times I have been able to talk shop with other bloggers.

I feel disconnected lately too, from my own blog and everyone else’s. At least I was able to write today …
So, I never made it past HP #2, I’m gonna have to read those, aren’t I?

If not blogging or seriously tweeting in three months counts as being disconnected, I hear you! I’m working on getting back into the swing of things, so I apologize in advance for the creepy multiple comments at once thing.
