What I’ve Learned Recently

  1. When meeting new people, it helps greatly if you’ve become friends on Twitter first. (Related: This chick? Is a great lunch date!)
  2. 5 hours of shopping will wear a girl out.
  3. I remain firmly, and naively, hopeful that moments of history won’t be marred within seconds by politics. My hopes are always dashed.
  4. Twitter can be an amazing place (beyond just a great place for conversation) like when you hear history making news, or when you can offer ACTUAL help to a friend in need.
  5. Going back to wearing heels and wedges after years of flats will make your legs, back and butt hurt like you ran a marathon. Wait, maybe that’s just me.
  6. The Brits are keeping millinery alive and well. Or not so well, as the case may be.
  7. Even if you’re marrying a prince, there are parts of a wedding ceremony when you just have to plaster a smile on your face so you don’t yawn.
  8. 2011 has been filled with events for the record books, both good and bad. But I’ll be honest–I’m kind of wishing for a little break from all the historical significance.

I found Reiker shoes to be really 100% awesome for being “heels” without hurting me. Hard to find though and many styles are really old lady nursing shoes. BUT. the pair I found was lovely and I wear them with everything. (Check out this blog post for a picture: http://www.arbolog.com/?p=1054)

I spent the day after Easter complaining that my butt cheeks hurt after my first foray into heels in ages. Ouch.

I’m still so bummed about missing lunch. Hopefully we will meet up in New York this month. But, if not, I can totally come down this summer. Maybe Chris and I will take the kid down there for the weekend, and I can sneak away for a lunch date. 🙂
