Wonderful Wednesdays

It’s that time again kids, Wonderful Wednesdays where we look at the good stuff to get us over the hump of the week. And since it’s been QUITE a week already, and the holiday stress is about to make me insane, it couldn’t come at a better time! So let’s get to it shall we?

  • First of all, this is the 25th Wonderful Wednesday. I’m a little shocked that it’s been that long–it seems like I just started it last week. I’ve found it to be a really interesting exercise, though it seems pretty basic: focus on good things NO MATTER WHAT one day a week. I actually think it’s helped me focus on good stuff more often than that, and while it may not be the most popular feature around the web on Wednesdays, I’m really glad I’ve committed to it.
  • Jackson had his 15 month checkup yesterday. Besides growing like a weed (what up 34 inches tall and 27.5 pounds? 99th & 85th percentiles, nice to see you again), he’s hit all the milestones except one–the one with words and saying them. We were kind of nervous about it based on the way our pediatrician had talked about it during our last appointment, but we saw a different ped this time, and he declared no problem for now. Which I knew (it’s a little early to worry about it, milestones are not hard and fast timelines for every kid, lots of kids talk later, blah blah blah I know all this stuff), but when the pediatrician says things a certain way, it’s sometimes hard not to worry you know? Anyway, the new pediatrician put my mind at ease, at least for now.
  • I have ONE more Christmas gift to get for all the long-distance family, and then I can ship it all out! Still no gifts for any of the family that lives in the same house as me, but I already think I know how to handle that this weekend, so gift giving stress–almost over!

So folks, what’s wonderful in your world? Let me know in the comments, or blog it up and I’ll link you below!

DANG, that’s a big baby! And here I thought E was tall for being near 34 inches at 18 months!

So glad to hear you are feeling better about the talking milestone. From the research I’ve done (both Dr. Google and real! live! books!), the fact that J has hit all the rest of his milestones means that even if there *is* something off with speech, it’s minor, not major (the problems that are harder to solve–but still solvable–are marked by global delays).

I’m pretty sure Jackson is taller and heavier than my little delicate flower. She certainly doesn’t get her waif physique from me.

I’m glad you aren’t stressing about the speech thing. It is so hard not to compare and worry when things don’t happen when you think they should, but there is SO much variety when it comes to kids and when they decide to start doing things. But, you know that.

And, Christmas shopping? I should probably do some of that, huh?
