Wonderful Wednesdays

It’s that time again, Wonderful Wednesday where we look at the good stuff to get over the hump of the week. Let’s get to it shall we?

My wonderful this week is pretty simple. It involves a little boy, my lap, and about a dozen board books. Lately, Jackson is ALL about the books. He’ll bring you book after book after book. He’ll put it in your hand and close your hand around it (he’s very insistent). If you’re on the floor, he’ll either stand with his hand on your shoulder, or he’ll perch on the edge of your knee. If you’re sitting in a chair or on the couch, he’ll climb up so he’s in your lap. And then it’s time to read.

He loves to turn the pages–sometimes more than he wants to be read to. He has definite favorite books, and we read those usually at least 6-7 times a night. He gets this look of concentration on his face when he’s turning the pages and when you’re reading to him, such a serious look, like he’s trying to figure out a complicated math problem.

Over and over we read. Over and over we turn the pages. And while some of the books may drive me crazy (and we may have “lost” one or two of the worst offenders already), at this moment I’m making it a point to try not to say no, as often as he wants to read…we read.

Because having that little guy put a book in my hand while he’s climbing into my lap? That’s beyond wonderful.

So what’s wonderful in your world this week? Let me know in the comments, or blog it up and I’ll link you below.

I cannot wait to read to Hannah–being read to and reading are some of my fondest childhood memories.

It’s the BEST, isn’t it? I love how much Charlotte loves books.

We went to the library yesterday and picked out a bunch of new stuff to read, and she has been insisting on reading them all day. It’s been a good day. 🙂

Reading with B was one of the things I looked most forward to as a parent and it’s as magical as I imagined. She a bibliophile like me. That special time is wonderful! And, truly deserving of a Wonderful Wednesday shout out!
