Boring wonderful Sunday

Today was one of those rare Sundays that felt like a Sunday in a good way, and not in a “we’re running around doing a million things, and tomorrow is Monday blah” kind of way. I could use more Sundays like this.

This morning was kind of lazy. The kid woke up early, of course, but I got up with him and we watched some TV together, played with some blocks together, read the same 3 books about 10 times each together. Jackson was active but not crazy, which made for a good “mommy isn’t quite awake” Sunday morning.

Then, after N.C. got up, we had a lazy breakfast (mmm, breakfast burritos!) and some more playing. And some more reading. And a little more running around, before we went off to our final errand of the weekend, grocery shopping. We managed to get in and out in just under an hour, without any nervous breakdowns from anyone (!), and without breaking the bank.

When we got home, Jackson went down for an epic nap that spanned 3 hours. It’s not unusual for him to nap that long (lucky us!), but normally N.C. and I use those hours to do a million and one things. Instead, today, we just relaxed. N.C. played Fable 3 while I watched, and twittered, and then…napped. I just fell asleep on the couch, and got a lovely, marvelous, beautiful hour long nap in before Jackson woke us both up.

It’s been a totally boring, pedestrian, quiet Sunday. But they’re so rare around here, I feel I need to celebrate and honor such a day. A day to really rest, relax, and recharge.

I needed a Sunday like today.

Oh my god, that sounds heavenly. I love days like that. Today was NOT one of the, for us. We spent a million hours in the car (again), Chris worked for a couple hours, and we had a family gathering.

I’m hoping for a quiet week.
