A little catching up

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful comments on my last post. It’s been a wonderful and insane year as Jackson’s mom, and I really wanted to try and write about it–I don’t think I actually captured all I wanted to, but at least I got something out there!

Jackson’s birthday was a lovely day. We didn’t have a party, but the birthday boy did get plenty of presents, books, and playtime, so I think he enjoyed it. Plus, he got a balloon (which he proceeded to carry around all day long), and his very first cupcake, which was hysterical to watch. He got sufficiently messy, played hard, and crashed hard. All in all, the best kind of birthday, don’t you think? I’ll post some pictures, and maybe a little video, once I get around to getting them off their respective devices, but rest assured, the boy was resplendent in his cuteness.

Speaking of video, one thing I was trying to work on for Jackson’s birthday was a video compilation of the past year. Instead of copying the time-tested mommyblogger “Letter to my kid” for his birthday (you know, the easy one), I went with copying the also time-tested, but much more time and labor intensive “Birthday Montage Video”. I figured it would be a nice thing to share with the family that is flung far and wide, since they can’t be here to share all those moments with us, and be a fun thing to look back on when he’s older. So, yeah, it might be fun when he’s older but with almost 3000 photos (you think I’m kidding), and probably 45 videos to go through and edit, and of course, waiting until the last minute…yeah, that’s why you didn’t see that video up here yesterday (as was the plan), and most likely won’t see that video up here tomorrow, or the next day. Maybe, if I’m lucky, I’ll finish it by Christmas. Whenever it’s done, I’ll post it here, if only as a warning to anyone else who might consider doing such a thing. (oh, ok, and because my kid is beyond adorable, and you should all be able to witness the adorable. It’ll make your day better!).

Anyway, now that the big birthday is over, there’s just the big art show to come this Friday, and then life can get back to some semblance of normal. Which will mean still working too hard, and not enough hours in the day, but maybe a little less anxiety over the calendar rapidly advancing. It might also mean getting back to all my big projects (sorry if you’ve been waiting on me, I swear, I’m trying to catch back up!). And some of the projects that have been on hold. And some new ideas floating around. Which is to say, just as insane as ever, just maybe less emotionally daunting.

So, what’s up with all of you? I missed you all over the weekend–what did I miss?

I’m glad you had a good time, and that he got to experience a sweet cupcake. Not much is new for me–the countdown for my ultrasound is still on. 23 weeks feels like forever!
