Bouncing around in my head

My brain is all over the place today, so hey, how about some bullet point tidbits?

  • I’m thinking of starting a Facebook page for RambleRamble, so that I can be Facebook friends with people. I have a VERY clearly defined Facebook policy in place right now–only family and friends I’ve known and met in real life, no companies or fan pages, etc–but I sometimes feel like I’m missing out on some of the fun. Yes, I’m a joiner.
  • My company replaced the (ancient and heavy) laptop I was using with a netbook that’s much faster and lighter. However, I feel like I need a magnifying glass to work on it for long. Unlike my iPhone, I can’t bring the silly thing up to my face to read the tiny font if I still want to work.
  • One of my favorite things about weddings? Jordan Almonds. Yummmm.
  • We watched that new Bravo show Work of Art last night. The husband (the artist) practically watched as if it was a horror film–you know, splayed finger over the eyes, I can’t look kind of things-and spouted quite a bit about the word “artist”(someday I’ll tell you his thoughts on that). It was dicey there for a while, but the judges were the saving grace, giving really good feedback that didn’t pull any punches. We’ll be giving it another shot, even though some of the art? Is ter-rib-le.
  • I’ve been on a Twitter bender lately, purging spammers, adding new folks, even (gasp!) some companies. I dunno know why. If we’re not Twitter friends, why not? @rambleginger
  • I’m in dire need of some local mom friends (alright, if we’re honest, I’m in desperate need of some local friends, but whatever). I’m about to break down and join like Gymboree or something (god the $$ though) just to be around other moms in the hopes of maybe, possibly making a friend.
  • I’m hoping to launch at least one more of the endeavors I’m working on by the end of this month (I’ve got 3 in the works. I’m insane, yes). Which means I need to get my ass in gear this weekend. But I don’t *wanna* code!!!
  • I’m trying to decide how best to celebrate Father’s Day for N.C. Animal, vegetable, or mineral? (those all have a hidden meaning, but since he reads my blog *hi honey!* I don’t want to give it away!)

Ooh, I DVRed Work of Art. So you’re saying if I watch it with the MIL she might give up on ever liking America? 🙂

And as for Gymboree, I say go for it. I don’t know if their specials are nationwide or local, but at our Gymboree you get to go to as many classes (real classes) as you want in addition to the play gyms for the entire summer. Sorry, I don’t want to sound like a commercial! But if you’re thinking of trying it, summer is the best time (at least around here). E loves gymboree, and there have been some clear benefits to it (socialization, sharing, all that good crap 🙂

You should be able to try a class for free, too.

If your MIL has anything like N.C.’s reaction then, yes, she probably will just sputter the whole time 🙂

As for Gymboree, I’m looking into it. We need to socialize Jackson too, so it’s not just for me (one of the reasons I think I need some mom friends is because I think Jackson needs to get around some kids). However, it’s currently pissing me off because they (and all the other one’s I’ve found) make it kind of hard for those of us who work to get there. They have ONE class that isn’t mid-day during the week. And when I called, they said that one Saturday class tends to fill up weeks in advance. So I’m kind of frustrated by that, but I’m going to keep looking to see if we can find a place/time…

I have stayed out of the Facebook fan page blog thing. At some point I can’t keep track of it all. And I feel like there is already so much of ME out in cyber space, adding FB to the mix just seems… overkill, maybe?!

As for Twitter, I never follow companies who follow me because one post I made one time (like my redundancy) mentioned something that they were marketing… and they soon unfollow me. Oh well. I am trying to branch out a bit though with real people!!

And I love Little Gym (like Gymboree) and have met some moms, which is great. But I still don’t feel like they are friend-friends, you know?!

That’s the thing I’ve always thought about Facebook for the blogs too. But every once in a while I see all these people who are connecting that way in the blog world and since I won’t open up my “real” facebook page to the wider world I get this hankering for some other means. In the end, I probably won’t end up doing it, but who knows…
Little Gym/Gymboree/there’s another one in this area I can’t think of…I’m not sure I think I’d find friend-friends there (though maybe if the god’s smile on me), but the hope is I would at least be able to meet a mom or two that I could ask about things like local resources or babysitters or good daycares, you know? Of course, that’s assuming I can find one that I can get into (their schedules around here aren’t exactly working mom friendly from what I’ve found).

Hah–and I was hoping to meet people ONCE we have the kid. We’ll see about that… Good luck with Gymboree!
