Oh, god. I think I'm having flashbacks. The Buddha was a horrible traveler from the get-go and would scream all night whenever we went anywhere. Only now--at 2 1/2--can we feel confident that we can get her to sleep anywhere but home.

But that brings me to my suggestion: go with a big hotel. We stayed at a B&B once and she, yes, yelled all night. Breakfast the next day was, shall we say, awkward?

Add that to your list: be prepared to be Those People.

You sound like a well seasoned "baby traveler"! I am so happy to hear that it went well and you guys enjoyed your trip. We are tackling a plane flight with 21-month old in a month... It should prove interesting! :)

Robot bed? I love that. (That Mini is just too cute sometimes).

A suite would have been great, and we'll probably try that for future trips (unless I'm being cheap and want to do Priceline again)--we had already made our reservations when you suggested that so we just went with what we had, but now that we've done it I TOTALLY understand the benefits!

these are all good, and yeah, I still stand by the suite thing. This last time when we went, Mini was big enough to sleep on a pull-out couch, which he was referring to as a "robot bed." We still took his nightlight, which was definitely a good call, and his blankets and a pillow from his bed. But you do have to just see what you're going to get with the naps, some kids will do it away from home, and others are not always able to swing it.

You should do it--it was definitely work, but it was so much fun too!
I will put the caveat in that we did most of our planning before hand and while we were there we kind of just...went with it, rather than having a list of places to see and things to do. It was hard for me and my list-making, plan-creating soul, but in the end much more enjoyable because we weren't trying to cram a zillion things in when the kid was fussy or whatever.
