Today I went for a long intense massage. I love getting massages when they are for relaxing and stress-relieving. However, when they are therapeutic? Meant to address a specific pain issue? Like today’s was? Here’s sort of how my thoughts go during those:
- Ahhhh, massage table is nice and warm. Soft sheets. I don’t even mind that I’m naked in front of a total stranger.
- Ooooh, that feels good. Nice gentle pressure. This will be good.
- Ah, ok, that spots a little tender. That’s ok, that’s why I’m here. Just breathe through it.
- Ahh, see, that wasn’t so ba….
- Aaaahhhhh, tender, tender, tender.
- Breathe. BREATHE. BREATHE.
- Whew, we’re through that spot. Deep breath and try to relax.
- Ok, this is feeling good again. Just a little pressure, nothing too…
- AAAAHHHHHHH
- painpainpainpainpainpain
- breathebreathebreathebreathe
- This is all good pain right? RIGHT?
As always, more lists can be found over at Anna’s at abdpbt!
Yes! Good pain! I’m glad you’re addressing it, and I hope the massage sets you back toward feeling well again!
Did you feel like you were going to vomit? Love that.
Oh my gosh that’s funny. I know exactly what you mean about the “good pain” because I definitely feel it, even if “good” is not how I would describe it.
