Some things you might not want to hear when you’ve gone past your due date with no signs of labor coming soon:
- This heat wave is supposed to last another 4 days!
- Are you sure the baby’s ok? Because my sister went past her due date and (fill in horror story here).
- Don’t you wish you hadn’t gone on maternity leave yet, now that you’re just wasting it sitting around waiting?
- No really, are you sure the baby’s ok? Another lady I know went past her due date and (fill in different horror story here).
- I bet you’re REALLY cranky *hahahaha*
- My friend went 3 weeks past her due date!
- You do know that late babies can be in danger, right? It’s called…failure to thrive or something like that? But I’m sure he’s FINE.
- At least you get a few more days of sleep.

Nope, you don’t seem cranky at all.
I’m really sorry you have to wait. 40 weeks is plenty! For what it is worth, I went past my due date and it all was just fine. I am sure you will be too. My only suggestion: ice cream. No medical reason, just it is cold and it is a mood elevator.
Best wishes since that little one will still be here before you know it, and it will be great.
Sucks you have to wait, but it’s totally normal, especially with a first baby. Here’s to hoping he gets here soon!
