I personally don't believe that these women were co-opting the message (given what I know about the area I live in), but even if they were, I don't have to like what it says. Just like you don't have to like what I've written. There's nothing that trivializes women in any of these plates. The intent is obviously playful, especially since the drivers struck you as professionals of some kind. You have interpretted them to fit your own prejudices. One way to subvert sexism (or any kind of -ism) is to co-opt it and take its power away by making fun of it (for example, gay men who refer to themselves as sissies or fairies), obvious to anyone who DOES have a sense of humor. Lighten up, girl. This message won't do any good but I needed to vent. I am really sick of humorless so-called feminists who do us all harm with this kind of hostile garbage. First of all, I'd argue that you're more of a queen than a princess :-) Secondly, it's not the first thing you're pronouncing to the outside world about yourself.
