The first and only time I went to NYC, the temps were record cold and in the single digits at the highest. I actually had to buy a fleece blanket because my crummy one star hotel did not have adequate coverage. And I think my butt nearly froze off. Don't buy clothes for there because you will never use them in CA. I was ill equipped but I'm glad I didn't spend money on new clothes.
