It’s Q&A time!

Because I’m in desperate need of some content around here (and because I actually like what she’s asking!), I’m going to answer the questions that Single In San Diego has posted up on her blog. I know, you’re all just dying to find out more about me!

1. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging to combat being married to an artist. That sounds bad, but being married to the center of attention when you’re already a bit of a shy wallflower has a way of making you disappear into the background at times. I wanted a place where it was all about me and my voice. Initially I thought I would talk a lot about the weirdness of being married to an artist (hence some of my categories), but it hasn’t quite turned out that way. This really has become a place about ME.

Also, I was starting to get into photography, and I thought having a place to post images would be a good way to encourage me/embarrass me into pushing my creativity. I haven’t posted pictures in entirely too long, but hope to remedy that soon.

2. What was one your favorite movies in the past year and why? You can pick a movie from the theater or DVD.
If I had to pick just one, I would say The Dark Knight. I’m a pretty big Batman fan, a huge Christopher Nolan fan, and I have a bit of an obsession with most of the actors in the movie. When you added in Heath Ledger’s creepy Joker, it was an awesome movie. Were there flaws? Um, yeah. But still, I’d rather watch Christopher Nolan’s flawed movies than most people’s flawless ones.

3. If there was a fire and you could only take five things (not including pets and important papers), what would they be?
Well, having been evacuated from my house once for a fire threat, this is actually easier for me to answer than I used to think. Strangely, when it came down to it, it wasn’t that much. (If we’re not including pets and important papers, I’m going to not include the external hard drive either. )

  • My camera
  • I have a small bench that has almost every photo from my life. It’s heavy as hell, but darn if it isn’t convenient for just such occasions. I’m going to cheat though and add in all the rest of the photos in the house as part and parcel of that bench 🙂
  • A box of sentimental Christmas ornaments that include the ornament my husband and I bought after he proposed to me & the ornaments my great-grandmother made for us.
  • My jewelry box. I’ve got stuff from my great-grandmother, my grandmother, my parents…you get the point. Nothing in there is worth much, other than from a family/sentimental value, which makes it entirely too valuable to lose.
  • My grandmother made N.C. and I a needlepoint that we displayed on our wedding day, and that now hangs in our bedroom. I’d probably grab that one too.

4. Name one goal you have set for the next year. You can pick your easiest or lamest one if you want.
I did a post on all my goals for this year a few weeks back. Granted, I feel like I’ve been a total slacker about, oh, all of them. I’ve been so lazy and unmotivated that this blog and my photography have both been pushed to the bottom of the pile. The additional income sources thing? Ha!

But, I’ve been doing ok with my first goal, which was Be a grownup about my health. I’m doing ok with that one, making doctor, dentist, & eye doctor appointments, figuring out how my health insurance really works, trying to eat better, etc. Now if I could just get to those other ones.

5. What is your favorite TV show and least favorite?
Hmmm, my absolute favorite TV show? How do I pick just one?? I’m a total TV junkie, and I love all my little vices in different ways. I can’t do it, I can’t pick just one. But I’ll narrow it down to three: Lost, House, and Chuck.  Wait, and Burn Notice. Oh, and Top Chef. Oooh, ooh, and Project Runway. Crap, and…well, you get the point.

Least favorite? This is almost as hard. There’s so much crap tv out there. TV that is the epitome of what’s wrong with the world. TV that makes me sad to be human. But honestly, and I know there are people who will disagree vehemently with me on this, my least favorite TV show is American Idol. I can’t even stomach 5 minutes of that stupid show, and it just invades the US for so looooonnnnnnggggg.  Bleh, even thinking about American Idol makes me want to curl up in a ball.

So there you have it, a few random factoids about me. How bout you guys?

Thank you so much for answering!!!

Batman Batman Batman. How did that not get nominated for the Academy Award. I know Heath Ledger did, but screw that. Everyone knows that movie was THE BEST too.

Also, American Idol is my least favorite TV show EVER. Yeah it is that bad. I think it should win the award for the “Worst Show in this Life.”

I completely understand the reason why you started blogging. My husband (who I call “Mister Blizzard”), being in the computer game industry, is totally the center of attention and always is “on”. While I am no wallflower, I am/was constantly being overshadowed by his life. So yeah, I get that…

re: #1 I hear you loud and clear, girl. I’ve always considered myself a “writer.” My boyfriend is actually writing books and short stories. It used to make me feel a little…less of a writer. 😉 Blogging has certainly empowered me to feel complete in-and-of myself, no matter what he is doing.

Very cool answers – that definitely explains your categories! = )

I love House and Lost! They usually have a House marathon on Sundays on USA and it wasn’t on yesterday. Needless to say I was a bit annoyed.
