A surprise for you!

in Blogging & Social Media

So, this week at Ramble Ramble has been all about blogging. How much I like it, how much I like the community, how fun it is that we all share this space. It’s been a perfect week to revel in this little “hobby” I got myself into.

I started blogging for the reals about 3 months ago. Prior to that, I wrote a little on my Myspace blog, but that account was set to private, so I think something like 6 people ever read me over there. I made the decision to start a blog to give myself a voice and a place, and I’m so grateful that I did because for the first time in a really long time I feel like I have…something. Something creative, and something just for me, and something that can be an an outlet.

I said when I started that even if no one ever read it, I wanted to try this blog thing. But frankly, it’s so much more FUN with you guys. With your comments and your blogs and your ideas and your input. I probably would keep this up even if no one ever read, but it wouldn’t be even half as enjoyable, entertaining and engrossing.

So to thank you for joining me, and making every day a little more fun, I’ve got a surprise…contest!

There are 3 ways to get entered to win. Do one of the following between now and Monday, November 24th @ 6pm (pst):

  1. Leave me a comment on this post. You can tell me your blogging story, you can just say hi, you can give me a link to one of your favorite blogs. Tell me what you do or don’t like about my blog, or your blog. Tell me what you had for dinner. Heck, leave me a comment that just rambles…it is the name of the place after all! If you’ve been lurking, this is the perfect time to come on out.
  2. Send me an email with any of the above. You can either email me at ginger (at) rambleramble (dot) com, or you can go to the About page and fill in the little form.
  3. For an extra entry, blog about this contest, or tweet it (you’ll need to come back here and leave the link in an additional comment, or email it to me).

That’s it, that’s all you have to do. On Monday night, I’ll choose 5 winners (but I totally reserve my right to up that number if I feel like it).

Oh, you probably want to know what you can win, right? Well each of the winners will have a choice between:

  • A 5 x 7 print of any photo I’ve posted on this blog (I suggest scrolling through the Learning Photography tab up there at the top), or on my flickr page, or
  • A set of 5 of these Christmas cards (created by my fabulous husband), with envelopes:

It’s not much, but it’s my little way of thanking you guys for joining me the last few months!

Edit: Just a quick note…if you leave more than I think 2 links in a comment, WordPress holds it for me to moderate. I’m LOVING the links you guys are giving me, so don’t let this stop you, but it does mean that your comment won’t show up immediately after you hit submit.

Discovered your blog after joining Twitter. Love your tweets, by the way.

I was a blog virgin until about four days ago. Friends of ours are sailing down south and for the past three years have been happily blogging about their adventures. And, we’ve happily been following along. My husband and I are taking the plunge and going sailing ourselves this time next year. Thought it was time I joined the blog community… mainly as a way to stay in touch with friends and family. I admit that it’s not the sexiest of subjects but we’re excited.

So, that’s my little bloggette on blogging. Just a newbie but willing to learn.

Thanks for the chance to enter your contest and keep rambling!

Oh-for-fun! I love contests!

I found your blog via NaBloPoMo (you were my first friend…awwww). I’ve been enjoying your blog now for just a few weeks. I like your willingness to share and your enthusiasm for photography.

I follow a lot of photography blogs, political blogs (although I’ve been on a bit of a much needed vacation from that after the election!) crafty blogs and cooking blogs. I go in stages as which I’m more interested in. Here’s a fun one:
It’s a easily digestable collection of craftiness and fun web finds and the like.

Your husband is very talented, but you’ve got some great photos…it would be a tough decision!

I’m new here, but it’s good to see I haven’t missed too much. Those Christmas cards are adorable! Does your husband sell them online? Maybe you should link to his stuff so those of us who don’t win can get some of our own? I’m just saying…

I just started blogging “for real” a few months ago. I guess I’ve always been doing some kind of blogging since I was 15, when I had a Geocities account and piled entries on top of each other in attempt to imitate real blogs, and after that using Livejournal and Myspace. 8 months ago or so I asked my web-programmer boyfriend, “Can you set a blog up for me?” and he said “yes! I can do anything. I am that awesome.” (seriously, although that is not an exact quote, he pretty much says “I can do ANYTHING” when I ask him if he can do something programming-related. The problem is his finding time to actually do it) and so now I have one!

I don’t know what’s so fascinating about reading about other peoples’ lives, but it really is. One of my favorites is Dooce, who is pretty famous in the blogging world by now. In fact, I think that is where I heard of abdptd from, and how I got here in the first place a couple weeks ago 🙂

As far as personal blogs go, I also like to read:

I guess Natalie Dee doesn’t count, since it’s really a blog accompanying a comic, but it’s pretty hilarious all the same.
Also…I don’t know where I found those first two from; they could very well be people who’ve commented here for all I know. I always visit links of comment-ers.

Oooh, this is fun! I was a skeptic blogger in the beginning. I started my blog to keep family/friends updated on my life in Cambodia. I blogged about four times in 9 months. Whoops!

Then, I fell into a job that was slightly boring and became a blog-aholic!

I agree with Nilsa. Does your husband sell those?

Wow, those cards are really great! I mean, what kind of amazing and humble artist designed those? He must be ultra super-great! Oh wait. It was me. Well if that’s the case, I could just start pointing out all the flaws or how the design could be much better, like I usually do, but then you’d just yell at me at home later. =)

You should totally check out this guy’s site I found, he does, like, artwork and stuff.

Great job on the bloggery baby, keep up the awesome work!

i just found your site via 20something bloggers, and i am definitely adding you to my watchlist 🙂 i recently started blogging and twittering, but so far have found lots of awesome things in common with people all over, and it’s great to be able to let stuff out and find someone else with the same issues.

i took a look through some of your photography, and instantly recognized arizona! i went to the university of arizona for summer classes and always loved the campus. tucson really is a beautiful place.

anyway, just thought i’d pop in and leave a link to my blog for the contest, off to look for you on twitter now.

Hey there, I’m Hilly (aka snackiepoo) and I found your link in my blog referral stats, which is odd for two reasons….one, that my name is not linked anywhere here (haha) and two because I rarely check my stats even though I have been this weekend to determine what browsers people are using!

Anydiddle, I am glad I found you and am loving your site. Hrmmm, a good blog that I can recommend? I think I will say Finn….she does a weekly photography post and her other posts are always greatly insightful.

I can’t entirely remember how I found your blog – it was either through NaBloPoMo, or through a link list on another blog I read.

I started blogging about 4 years ago because I needed to understand the phenomenon for my job (I work in the Internet field). I have had various blogs off and on, but nothing that has really stuck. Maybe this one will!
