For whatever random reason, I’ve decided to try and participate in November’s NaBloPoMo. For anyone who reads and doesn’t know what that is, or doesn’t want to click the link, I’m committing to posting every single day in November. Eek!
At first, I thought…eh no big deal. I already post (on average) 5-6 times a week, what’s one or two more days? But then, of course, I remembered how much I loathe doing things just because I have to. I hate deadlines in my personal life, and tend to rail against being told I have to do something. Seriously, ask my husband what happens when he says we have to do laundry, or have to clean the house, or have to buy groceries!
But to be honest I’m intrigued. I’m wondering if I can make myself come up with a month’s worth of substantive posts. I’m wondering if I can push myself, knowing there is this self-imposed structure, or if it will make me dislike blogging to have such parameters. I’m wondering if the challenge will give me something to be proud of at the end of the month.
I’m not going to promise that every day will be the most amazing post ever. And I fully expect that there will be days that I put up the wimpiest posts ever. But I’m going to challenge myself to 2 things this month:
- Post a full post every day. Or at least try to keep to the type of posts I already do and not fall back on just “Here’s my post. Done.” type stuff.
- Post at least 3 new photos a week–if I’m challenging myself, why not challenge my photography as well? I want to try and make these a real way to push myself to learn more, so I’m going to try and make those 3 photos be more than just my macro close up on pretty plants standby–things such as using a new setting on the camera, or trying new composition, or different lighting.
We’ll see what it comes down to, but I’m intrigued by the challenge and what this blog might look like when it’s done.
If any of you are participating, let me know and I’ll make sure to follow along!
Edited to add: Oh yeah, and here’s my page…come be my friend!
I’m doing it again this year. Good luck!
I did nablopomo for awhile, but then I stopped just because it was too much pressure to crank out a post even if I had none to give. I post two or three times a day, but the added pressure just killed me.
Good luck!! I hope you fair better than I did.
I’m doing it too…good luck! 😉
I’m attempting my first NaBloPoMo month…not sure how I’ll make it since I have trouble spelling it!
I am doing it too. Good luck! I haven’t figured out the whole NaBloPoMo website/friending thing yet, but I’ll go to your page and see if I can friend you.
And I’m telling myself that not all the posts have to be great, right? RIGHT?
