Here are a few cool shots of the Rose Bowl from last weekend. They’re all arty and stuff. I ended up taking about 20 shots like these–but that could have had something to do with the shade a local tree was offering me while I shot the sign. It was hot that day!
This pic has some color issues I think, but I can’t make photoshop do my bidding, so except for some small size tweaks, you’re seeing it pretty much straight out of camera
This one’s better. The Rose Bowl sign is really kind of pretty. It’s got that old-fashioned neon look to it without look gaudy as hell.
I kind of like that it looks so…elegant isn’t the right word, but something like that feeling. Most stadiums these days are giant corporate behemoths, but the Rose Bowl has retained its own personality. It’s not the Cheetos Rose Bowl, or the Gold Toe Socks Rose Bowl. It’s still just the Rose Bowl. Yes, everything inside the stadium can be branded, and they’ve got sponsors everywhere, but somehow it’s still kept some of that historical legacy.
And it got me some pretty cool pictures.

I like the pictures. I never really thought about the Rose Bowl like that. I lived near there when I was younger and saw it all the time. You’re right…it’s nice that the sign hasn’t been replaced by one from a corporate sponsor.
Great pictures! The Rose Bowl is definitely much prettier than most stadiums. It’s not very comfortable to sit in, though.
Yeah, not so much on the comfort level. I think my tailbone is still numb from the game!
