One offensive letter

I really hate Washington Mutual. Not because of their banking practices (I have no idea if they’re good or bad). Not because they go by WaMu (although it does make me think somehow of a cow running around Wal Mart). And not because of their lame commercials, with those “fantasies” that make no sense in the context of a banking ad. (Though I do actually hate those. I mean I’m all for odd/bizarre ads, but seriously, those are just non sequiturs, and not in a good way. I’ve been known to mute the tv if they’re on and I can’t fast forward. But hating a commercial does not always make me hate a company. Moving on.)

No the reason I hate them is simple. “Whoo Hoo”.

I can’t even begin to explain how much this bothers me. It partially bothers me because it’s a dumb ad campaign–who really thinks that any bank is going to make them happy these days? As one blogger said “You’re upside down in your mortgage? Whoo-hoo!” “Our stock dove nearly 10 percent yesterday? Whoo-hoo!”

But the real reason?

That extra freakin H. There is no “H” in the word woo. It should be woo hoo. Every time I see that, it bugs me, then pisses me off. Every. Single. Freaking. Time I see one of those billboards or commercials.

Obviously, I get entirely too bothered by these things.
