Unemployment sucks

Haven’t written anything in a while–I’ve been in a bit of a funk due to this whole unemployed in a land where we don’t know anyone nonsense. It’s hard to go from having an actual career, with an upward trajectory, to unemployed and wondering where to go. Add to that the fact that we don’t know anyone out here, and I spend a lot of time in front of the TV.

I went to my cousin’s college graduation this past weekend. It was great to see her, and all the rest of the family. It made me want to go back to school to get my MBA though. There’s really no need for that (at this point in my life anyway), but just being on campus, and around the graduates made me feel that way. But then I think of adding more debt to the pile and go, uh no thanks. Maybe someday though.

The job thing is actually going ok. I’m waiting to hear back about 3 possibilies. Each one has some pluses and minuses (of course), so I’m not sure which one to hope for. Oddly enough, I think I’m most excited for the one that sounds the worst on the surface, but I really felt a connection with the hiring manager, and I think the job would actually have the most growth potential of the three. But we’ll see what happens.

N.C.’s been doing really well with the freelance thing, picking up new clients pretty much every week. I’m doing some work trying to build contact lists for him, doing mailers, etc. Occasionally anyway.

Neways, that’s what’s going on here. Boring, boring,, boring…

Ginger, I’ve just moved to West Texas and am so far hanging onto my job from Virginia, but on a part-time basis. I hear your worries about being in a new place and not knowing what to do next.

I hope the best of your 3 possibilities will pan out & that meanwhile you will find good new December/January shows to watch and other ways to take care of things that fall by the wayside during full employment.
